Blog and Web Site Traffic, a 10 part article: part 6

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Let’s recap. So far, we have covered 5 traffic building tips from 1 article written by Yaro Starak.

At #5:

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

Yaro Starak

What do I have to say about this tip? Well, I do encourage comments on previous post I made (~or may be?~). It seems that I don’t get enough comments or feedback. I guessing that what I write is not comment-able, or the post isn’t interesting enough to comment, or there’s really no one visiting my blog ;P .

If that’s the case, I will increase my effort writing more quality articles, more questionable, and bring more traffic to this blog so I get more comments.

Back to tip #5. Personally, when I visit blogs at random, I sometimes look at 2 things before I subscribe RSS feeds. Their RSS subscribers and the number of comments. Why?.. It’s as Yaro said in his tip #5 above.

Then why should you subscribe this blog feed if there is less comment? And There’s no RSS indicator showing how many readers are there. Well, this blog RSS subscribers has not reach the 500 mark yet, but there are loyal readers and I appreciate them.

Ever wonder who is Yaro Starak? Tomorrow, ‘ll write a short bio-article about him, who he is and what he does for a living.

Update Report on Traffic Building Challenge #4

stats -25 june 2007

21 days has pass since I started the 40 days traffic building challenge and the above stats is the latest for the past 7days.

What does it say about traffic to this blog? well compare to traffic building report #3 average unique visitors drop another 31.25% or an average of 9 unique visitors. What I can say is that, it’ wasn’t bad as the previous week which drop almost 70 percent.

Last week I didn’t do much since I was quite busy, but 3 days before week 2 ended, I tried for linkreferal.com to bring in traffic. It did bring in traffic but there was a catch. What linkreferal.com does is it ranks members websites/blogs based on participation of the member on a daily basis. It’s a members directories traffic.

The more you participate, the higher your blog will be rank and the more traffic will come. What you need to do is visit at lease 30 members website/blogs, do 5 reviews and create 1 post in the members forum. So I did that for 3 days straight. The results, as you can see in the graph above.

I guess if I participate more, there’s a chance traffic will double or triple. Here’s the link to linkreferal.com if you want to try it out.

Even though traffic is slow, but this blog Technorati authority is slowly increasing.

Tomorrow, I’ll continue Blog and Web Site Traffic, a 10 part article: part 6. Don’t forget to subscribe to this blog feed.
